I got an email today telling me I could learn to save money by spending the low low price of just $105... This in my book defeats the purpose of money saving!
If the seminar was free to give out great money saving tips then I'd go! But it's costly and with needing to save money that's silly! There's plenty of free ideas and tips out there already and if you find doing all of them you've saved enough that you have $105 to go to one of these then you don't need to go to one!
I started to think to myself what I could earn in interest with the $105 and even with the low interest rates of the moment it's more than I think I and most other people would get out of a seminar.
Using this page:

and this page:
http://money.saverscene.com.au/compare-the-best-term-deposit-interest-rates/
I found out the best savings interest rates and I now know I could get at least 4% for 1 year on my savings of $105, a little more with creative rate chasing on the instant access cash up to 4.6% for 5 months.
Looking at the sums of 4% for 1 year if the interest is calculated daily that'd be an earning of $4.28 - I used the compound interest calculator to work it out: http://money.saverscene.com.au/compound-interest-calculator/ - Adding more money over the time would give even greater returns. Start small and eventually you can save big!
Better yet if you've got debt pay off some of it with the $105! If you've got a credit card with an APR of 18% it could save you in a year around $20 if you were to pay the extra $105 off your credit card debt. An even better saving! Or if it's a credit card of about 30% you're looking at a saving around $37!

Money Saving Tip: Read the books you've got!
Sorry I've not been around on here a lot been posting mainly on the saver scene website.
Today I found myself on a book store website with 10 books in my cart, I then thought to myself I bet I've got 10 books on my book shelf I've not read. Sure enough when I checked it I had more than 10. Don't waste money on buying books if you've not read your other books.
Remember if you've got any great money saving tips we're trying to get to 1000 on Saver Scene Australia.
